25 July 2010 -- Ignorance is Not Always Bliss -- Matthew 21:12-17. Anyone involved in a close relationship does not want to be kept in the dark in regards to offending that particular person. This morning we are going to discover how, as Christ followers, we can offend our greatest treasure, Jesus Christ Himself, and not even know it.
18 July 2010 -- Where's Your Head at? (But Also Your Heart?) -- Colossians 3:1-4. By Daniel Vanderhooft. In daily life, there are many things that can become our center. It is very easy for one to forget where their focus is supposed to be. Our lives are supposed to be focusing on many other things, but rather have Christ as the center.
11 July 2010 -- Our Intern Shares. Our intern, Simone Rigg, writes: "Over the last years, the Lord has placed a huge desire on my heart to serve Him in missions. I have a burden for the lost people living in darkness. Last summer I did an internship in the Philippines that had an immense impact on me. God placed the desire in me to serve Him there and placed a love for unreached people on my heart. Today I want to share with you about my future ministry and also some experiences that have shaped me, made me grow in faith, and prepared me for things that might come."
4 July 2010 -- Communion Sunday. This morning we’ll spend our time reflecting on the payment Jesus Christ made on the cross at Calvary.
27 June 2010 -- The Final Word -- James 5:19-20. And as we come to the end of our study of the book of James, we find words of challenge that will leave us in good stead if we hear and act. Our natural propensity to wander from the truth, to stray from the God of our salvation, can be countered by regular and deliberate heart examination and by caring and loving each other enough to reach out and pull each other out of the ditch, too!
20 June 2010 -- Prayer That Has Great Power (Part 2) -- James 5:13-18. The Puritan John Bunyan defined prayer like this: "Prayer is a sincere, sensible, affectionate pouring out of the heart or soul to God, through Christ, in the strength and assistance of the Holy Spirit, for such things as God has promised, or according to his Word, for the good of the church, with submission in faith to the will of God." May we as followers of Jesus engage in and experience this sort of heart communion with our Heavenly Father!
13 June 2010 -- Family Focus. As followers of Jesus, we become part of a greater family than just our own flesh and blood. We are adopted into God's family and together, as brothers and sisters in Christ, we strive to show the world all the beauty of who our Heavenly Father is. TAC is a small, visible picture in the east part of this city of the huge family of God that reaches back into history 2000 years and reaches around the world today. We're going to pause today to focus on our family here in Transcona... so be encouraged to rejoice and be really glad in all that God is doing in our family -- all for His great glory.
6 June 2010 -- Prayer That Has Great Power -- James 5:13-18.
30 May 2010 -- Combating the Allure of the World -- James 5:1-6. The only way we can combat the allure of the world is to see that there is something surpassingly more valuable and desirable to be pursued -- and then keeping our eyes on it and staying single-minded in our pursuit of it... Jesus and His soon return is surpassingly more valuable and so we gladly and willingly fight against the allure of the world in anticipation of being with Him someday and tasting of all the joy and fullness we will experience in Him!
23 May 2010 -- The Seductive and Evil Temptress of Momentary Riches -- James 5:1-6. All of us have tasted the fury of this woefully seductive temptress. The allure of earthly and momentary riches is strong and the Bible is filled with warning against it. May God use His Word to help us see the horror and devastation that a love affair with her can leave in our lives, and may He stir in our hearts to continue to chase after Jesus, our greatest treasure!
16 May 2010 -- The Surrendered Life and Future Personal Plans -- James 4:13-17. As it pertains to our future personal plans, the world's way of planning and strategizing is vastly different than what we as followers of Jesus have been called to. God, in His sovereignty, tells us that we ought to be in the business of planning for the future -- but not independently. He desires that we live in absolute and complete surrender to Him. And as we live like that each day, our planning and decisions, under the direction of His Spirit who lives within us, will become increasingly wise and ultimately bring glory to Him.
9 May 2010 -- The Surrendered Life and Brotherly Love -- James 4:11-12. Sometimes the toughest place to live out our faith in Jesus is in a family setting. The Bible makes it clear that followers of Jesus are part of a larger family - brothers and sisters in Him. So it stands to reason that, like in any family scenario, tensions can and will arise. When we live in surrender to the Spirit's control, Christ will be formed in us and our communication and reactions to each other will be a beautiful thing and point people back to how magnificent our Savior really is!
2 May 2010 -- Communion Sunday. This morning we’ll spend our time reflecting on the payment Jesus Christ made on the cross at Calvary.
25 Apr 2010 -- Living the Reality of our Life in Jesus -- James 4:5-10. "So consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus." What magnitude, what wonder, what mystery resonates in this awesome truth! As followers of Jesus, at the moment that God in his mercy and grace reached down and rescued us from our sin, He placed us into Christ and gave us His Holy Spirit to live in and through us. The battle in our lives everyday is to become what we actually are in Jesus!
18 Apr 2010 -- Knowing the Reality of our Life in Jesus -- James 4:6-10. "So consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus." 11 Apr 2010 -- Knowing the Reality of our Life in Jesus -- James 4:6-10. Something absolutely amazing and stunning happened the moment you gave your heart to Jesus. God, in his mercy, reached down and saved you! A huge part of our new life in Jesus is learning and understanding the implications of what actually took place when new birth happened in our lives. May we be diligent in growing in our knowledge of God and all that He has done for us, and may that understanding spur us on to God exalting, God honoring, and God glorifying living.
4 Apr 2010 -- Resurrection Sunday. We celebrate the resurrection of Christ with testimonies of the impact of the cross. Hear testimonies by Aaron, Leslie, and Don.
28 Mar 2010 -- Finding God in the Seemingly Insignificant. We all desire to do things that are significant in life. The fact is that sometimes as Christ followers, we can lose sight of what really matters. This morning we are going to focus on jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem and uncover significant opportunities that come across our paths as Christ followers that we might not otherwise recognize.

14 Mar 2010 -- Our Home-Grown Boys. It is so great to have Daniel Vanderhooft and Tyler Janz speaking to us this morning. Daniel and Tyler are TAC home-grown boys who have been studying at Millar College of the Bible in Pambrun, SK. One of their requirements is to preach a sermon outside of the classroom and we are fortunate that they chose Transcona Alliance Church for their special assignment. Hear Daniel Vanderhooft's sermon from Acts 1:8-9 and Tyler Janz's sermon from 1 Thes. 5:12-24.

28 Feb 2010 -- Focus On The World. As our "Focus On The World Month" draws to a close, may we be reminded that the call to mission, the call to invite people to join us in our worship and adoration of Jesus, is a daily deal -- not just a one-month-a-year emphasis. May God continue to fuel a global heart in each of us, and may we be intentional about engaging in this mission right here in our community and city. This morning we're excited to have Orlando and Rose Rodriguez with us. Orly and Rose are involved in Rock Solid Refuge, a ministry reaching out to troubled teens, bringing them the hope that is found only in Jesus Christ.
21 Feb 2010 -- Focus On The World: Mission:Winnipeg. For every Christ-follower, the call is identical. We have been called to give our lives to the mission Jesus has clearly laid out. This month we're being challenged with God's "global heart" and the mandate of being Jesus' witnesses, and making disciples. Today our focus begins in our own backyard... God has raised up organizations that work alongside the local church in order to reach Winnipeggers adn Manitobans for Jesus. This happens, most often, as mercy, justice, and compassion are demostrated in very tangible ways. When the church engages in these sorts of activities, people's hearts are much more prone to listen to the life-changing, hope-giving, joy-delivering message of the cross. May God use this day to propel us into more intense and strategic missional living!

This month we're being challenged with God's "global heart" and the mandate of being Jesus' witnesses, and making disciples. Today our focus goes way beyond our own backyard... This happens through evangelism, church planting and development, discipleship ministries, mercy, justice, compassion ministries, and other very tangible ways. When the church of Jesus engages in these sorts of activities, people's eyes wil be opened to the hope-giving heaven sent treasure - Jesus. May God use this day to propel us into more intense and strategic missional living... and would we be available for whatever or wherever God would call us.
7 Feb 2010 -- Focus On The World: Mission:CMA (Lois Franklin in Mexico). We're so thankful to be a part of a denomination that sets world missions as a high priority. This morning, we're pleased to have Lois Franklin speaking to us about her work with the women at the Lion of Judah Church in Guadalajara.

24 Jan 2010 -- Peeling Back the Layers: Revealing a Heart of WisdomlessLife -- James 4:1-7. God desires His children to walk in wisdom and display the character of Jesus as they do. By God's grace we can experience His empowering to become wise men and women. There are, however, some things that can reveal to us that wisdom isn't the benchmark of our lives. May God reveal hindrances in our lives that will stand in the way of Him forming wisdom in our minds and hearts.
17 Jan 2010 -- Prayer for Haiti. We pause in our series on James to pray for Haiti. May people turn to God through this unprecendented disaster.
10 Jan 2010 -- The Portrait of Wisdom -- James 3:13-18. One of the signs of a maturing follower of Jesus is that our lives will be marked by wisdom. Wisdom is something that the world desperately needs to see and experience. How we need the Holy Spirit to do the work of forming wisdom in our hearts and actions. May God grant us the grace to willingly submit to His work of making us wise men and women for his glory!
3 Jan 2010 -- The Million Dollar Question. We are asked questions all the time. Most of the time, the answer does not carry much weight. Every once in a while we get asked a question in which we know our answer will have a monumental impact. Today we are going to be asked a question in which the answer will have an impact beyond what we can even comprehend. A question that comes from Jesus Christ, "Who do you say that I am?"
